Abstract
Tabuk battle occurred in the ninth year of Hijra when Islam had already been spread across the Arabian Peninsula. Undertaking a new political experience people who used to digest patriarchal system were now moving towards an oriented establishment by the name of Ummah. Three strata should be considered here: Some preserve the old traditions, some try to establish individual or tribal authority for the sake of interests and others rise against old traditions by defending the Islamic teachings. To recognize the situation and likely reforms, the prophet needs to put his followers on trial at this vital point of history. Narrations on Tabuk issue raise some questions about the originality of this military move for the researcher: Was the purpose of troops deployment to confront the Rome Empire or the prophet had some other concerns regarding socio- political purpose? Can we argue that the purpose of such action could be a kind of recognition as to make the socio-political flows in the society to be recognized? Using content analysis, this research focuses on the genuine traditions and sermons uttered by the prophet on Tabuk event. To put more credit on validity of research the prophet’s sermon on the deployment of troops for Mooteh battle is also taken to account for the similarity of event. The findings maintain that the prophet had no military assumption by troops deployment but a particular socio-political concern to pursue.
