Abstract

Judgment and trial, since old days that has been simple and basic in form of arbitrage and private judgment, to today that is a complex system, regarding to the degree of civilization, type of the state, and political, social and religious requisites and considerations of societies has been changed and modified, and in any era has a specific characteristic.
One of these eras is Timurids government on different regions including Iran and Transoxiana. In the governance time of this dynasty, like other governments before them, special institutions for trial and judgment existed and it had its specific conditions. Judgeship in this era was not based on integrated and uniform rules, and the judges would judge based on canonical rules, conventions and kings rules and commands. Also the Genghis Yasa was counted as the important basis of the conventional judgment in this government .These were counted as law and each action against them was crime, and there existed special punishment for each crime . In this period, also, judgment was as important output of kings, so that the sultan, himself as the highest judicial authority at oppressions law court handled the trials and his order and command was effective in appointment, changing, and reduction of punishments. The importance of three elements was different under government. every Timurid sultan and had special style in judgment. Primary purpose in the present research is to study the punishment styles, quality of judges' action and legal procedure manner in Timurids era .
