Abstract

In his first attach, after being evacuated from Gilan in 1500, Ismail targeted at Shervanshahan government who were ruling at Shervan. Undoubtedly a revenge motivation due to the murder of Joniyd and Heydar, father and grandfather of Ismail, committed by Shervanshahan, testing fighting power force before the conflict with Azerbaijan Torkamini power, and providing financial support through the capture of state of Shervan’s rich spoils his summation, have been effective in choosing Shervan as the starting point of their military operations. In this confrontation, the rulers of Shervan who had lost their power, gradually were forced to seek good relations with Shah Ismail after some struggles and conflicts. In this paper, relations of the Safavid Shah Ismail and Shervanshahan in the range of 906 to 930, and effective factors of development of this relationship is analyzed. The finding suggests that the key motivation of Shah Ismail to put an end to Local Dynasty of Shervan, was paving the way for seeking political power in Iran. His ultimate goal was overthrowing the government Turkmen Aqqoyonlu and dismantle feudal throne and to establish the state. Based on previous experiences in order to prevent the union and government collusion of Shervanshahid and Torkmanid governments, at the first step Ismail took invaded Shervanshahan and stripped off them of power.
