Abstract

T The nuclear activities of Iran in Pahlavi era was one of the socio-political manifestations of the era which shows a change in the role played by Pahlavi II. This started from mid1330s A.H (mid 1950s) and with some upheavals it continued untill the downfall of Pahlavi dynasty. The present study is a historical survey of the US position and the reasons for that position with regard to Iran's nuclear activities. Finally the researcher comes to the conclusion that although the US was one of the pioneering countries that helped Iran for initiating its nuclear program, However from the middle of the late decade of Pahlavi authority, started a double-sided precautionary policy considering Iran's nuclear program. Nevertheless this policy by no means meant any restriction or sabotage in implementation of nuclear program.
