Abstract
Great Britain policies, applied in the south and central parts of Iran intensified the critical condition of the country and caused the inclusion of Iran in the World War I.In similar way,the northern neighbor of Iran- Russia-had embarked on a colonial, meddling inhumane policy in East, North and northeast of Iran as well. These policies, excruciated life condition in Iran which brought about a serious famine crisis. This time of hardshipin Iranlasted until Russia left Iran due to the Bolshevik revolution and creation of Soviet Unionwhich led to theirwithdrawal from that war. This paper elaborates Russia and Soviet Union’s role in worsening the crisis and violent destructive actions in Iran through close analysis of unpublished documents in Iranian archives.Clearly, it is not feasible to depict the comprehensive view of this issue,Rather, this paper merely focuses on Russian forces in three provinces of Iran namely: Gillan, Mazandaran and Qazvin applying the documentary narrative. The significance of this study lies on the fact that there is not adequate research onthe statistics of civilian casualtiesdue to implantation of these policies. To this end, this paper can reveal the ignored sight of historical- political relation between Iran and its northern neighbor.Investigating the extent to which people’s life and economy of the country had been jeopardized, will reveal the hidden stories occurred during World War I in occupied district of Iran.
