Abstract

Simultaneously with Iran’s confrontation with western modernity and creation of discursive confrontations affected by it, Woman, their identity, and living conditions were considered as one of the most important subjects and after that in these discourses, a wide range of speech and text was formed about them. The present article investigate discourses that were formed around the issue of women by using method of critical discourse analysis and analyze the meaning of the Modern woman subject in modernist discourses of the Qajar era. By using this method we are trying to answer this questions: what is the meaning of the subject of modern woman in modernist discourses of Qajar era? What ideologies have dominated this discourse on the subject of modern women? What station has this discourse in the Qajar era?
Specially modern woman subject was formed in opposition to social tradition. This subject defined as “demanding and critic subject” in modernist discourse. “Equality between woman and man” was the main category and central concept in this discourse.
