The stability of traditional relations and the lack of development of the economic structure in the Qajar period were among the causes of the decline and occurrence of social and economic crises. This disorder affected different groups and led to the difficulty of livelihood and life affairs. As one of the lower groups of the society, the theologues often lived on religious funds, but the economic crises had a direct impact on the lives of the theologues by decreasing general revenues and as a result of the lack of funds, and led them to earn unconventional incomes. In Zanjan, the Jameh Mosque had the most theologues and they, like other areas, had challenges and livelihood problems. In the present study, we will address the question that due to the unfavorable state of the economy in the Qajar period, how and by what (unconventional) methods did the theologues of the Jameh Mosque earn a living? And what obstacles and challenges did they face? The hypothesis of the research is that the scholars and other groups claimed to be close and dependent on the site of the mosque’s endowment income, which included the school status of the school and the payment of teachers and students’ salaries. According to the findings of the research, the theologues met the needs of life by holding various jobs during the difficult years of life. This article examines the subject in a descriptive-explanatory way using library resources and public, private and personal organizations, articles and manuscripts.
